An academic commentary was recently published in The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology, & Women’s Health in relation to the article “Comparison of CO₂-based cryotherapy, non-gas-based cryotherapy, and thermal ablation for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 and 3: a randomised, controlled, phase 3 non-inferiority trial”.
The commentary, authored by Silvina Arrossi, analyses the study’s main findings and their implications for cervical cancer prevention, with a particular focus on the need to generate evidence on the key elements to be considered in the implementation of non-gas-based cryotherapy and thermal ablation as strategies to expand access to treatment for precancerous lesions.
